S-S-S-Supreme
By: Yorgos

When you want to spend some serious cash, then you obviously do a lot of research. That's what I did. 2 months spent on internet, reading reviews, specifications, etc. I ended up buying these babes. There is no better value for money. You might read some disadvantages about pitch, which is true (this is improved with mk3), but it is soooooo insignificant that you won't understand a thing, unless you are super high pro dj (in which case no review is needed). And when it comes to scratching, these decks flow like butter. Super smooth!!!! You can "talk" to them! EXCELLENT!!! 2005-08-19
Excellent quality & reliability but not the only good deck out there!
By: Buzz1n

The SL1200 MKII has been around a long time.I would like to say it has stood the test of time for quality & reliability.Credit is due for technics HOWEVER there are all these people goin around sayin anythin that isnt technics is garbage, this simply isnt true! There are many other decks out there that also deserve credit for their quality, price(lets face it technics cost an arm & a leg!) and amount of features(many which Technics dont have!).My conclusion:If you want a high qaulity & reliable deck that doesnt have all the bells and whistles and you dont mind dishin out a bit of extra cash, then the Technics SL1200 MKII's are a good choice...but not the only choice out there that delivers!!! 2005-03-31
definatley still on top
By: karl

Once i ditched my numarks for a pair of these babies i couldnt believe how good they actually were, smooth pitch, plently of torque and classic looks. All in allin my opinion still one of the best turntables on the market. 2005-02-07
Good clubbing deck, although other makes recommended!
By: DJ Vanhal

The SL1200s are good, but their time has sadly come to an end in my opinion. Although these are still widely used in clubs they are being taken over by such makes as Stanton, Numark and Vestax. I use these in the club where I DJ, and although familiar and smooth to play, I now use TT500s at home as they are simply a better deck. If you're looking to upgrade from a budget deck then the SL1200s are fine (like I said - used in many clubs), however Numark TT500/TTX or Stanton 8-150 are much nicer to use! 2004-11-22
not as good as the st-150's
By: Olly B

I would give them 5 out of 5 but i'm afraid the stanton str8/st-150's are better! sorry! and if any of you DJ's have noticed clubs are now starting to fit these instead of technics, don't get me wrong technics are the greatest decks but it sounds impossible but the stantons are better 2004-11-15
Still regarded as the best
By: R4VERbaby

Hello all,
The technics SL1200/1210 turntable has been the deck of choice for DJ's the world over for more than 25 years and still is.It is classicly stylish,101%accurate and extremely robust and reliable.I have owned a pair of SL1200's for over 15yrs,the same pair i may add. There are now some fantastic decks on the market today don't get me wrong, with features that will keep any young inspiring DJ's happy, but do you really NEED them?that is the question you should ask yourself.Do you really want to be wrestling with nearly 5kgs of torque?1.5kgs is precisely the right amount to keep the platter spinning even under the most heavy handed DJ's.The simple things are always the best.
Take the mighty London bus.It has been in service for 50yrs,there are better buses out there, but the original still soldiers on
regardless.
The Technics SL1200/1210 is a legendary piece of musical eqipment. It does everything it says on the tin, in an extremely majestic fashion with no frills and will always be loyal and faithful to you.So be loyal to a generation of DJ's and choose the REAL turntable on the market today. 2004-07-13
Oustanding accuracy and everything you need
By: Rob Williams

I am a house DJ and needed to upgrade from my budget decks. I had a go on my mates MK3's and loved everything about them. The thing with these decks that make them outstanding is the unbelievable accuracy along with the spot on torque. I also love that fact that the pitch controle is 'tight' and 'smooth' so you cant (very easily) accidently knock it. There are many other decks out there offering different features. To be honist i believe that these are not needed (as a house DJ anyway).
Along with the accuracy of this deck is the fact that you can have it serviced and practically every part is replacable.
Its your choice but over a million DJ's can't be wrong! 2004-06-04
They just don't cut it anymore.
By: Sean-E

there was a time when I would stand by my technics dex till the day I died. Now I change my mind. Technics sl1200s are old and out dated. They simply just don't cut it anymore. The motor torque which was THE ONLY THING that made technics famous in the begining is now outstripped by stanton, numark, citronic and vestax. The sluggish start up is really sad 2. Don't think that it doesn't hurt to admit this (coz it does) but technics dex are just ancient. If they maybe lowered the price a bit I would still recomend them but when it comes 2 a choice betwean the PDX 2000s or the Numark tt-500s then it doesn't even come close. Technics domination of the turntable market is over and the sooner everyone realises it the better. RIP technics. 2003-11-30
No 1 For build quality & Reliability ......
By: Martin Chambers

Here.. Here , couldn,t agree more with the above comments by stu z.
i,ve owned my 1200,s for 11 years now and they still perform brilliantly . All i do is have them serviced & the pitches changed every 2/3 years ,the build quality is outstanding. So when you,ve had over 10 years service from your vestax, numark, citronic & stanton super decks....then you can come on here and slate technics. 2003-11-28
Outdated?! No way!
By: Dj Grafyte

These dekz are outstanding. They are sturdy, reliable and the torque is excellent. Together with the Shure M447's they're the dream dek. Whoever says these are outdated is a fool, they do the job and excellently at that! 2003-11-17
i just like to look at em haha
By: dj Hightower

I got a pair of these sexy looking decks of my mate for a pretty good price £300 including ortofon stylus. I would never want another pair of decks compaired to these, they're reliable consistent and overall outstanding. Ive used the mk3 and theyre slightly better in the pitch control being smoother but i dont mind. I dont think i would want anything else as whats the point going into a club after playing ur 'vestax' and finding the setup totaly different, youde be pretty gutted. Never want to change my decks theyre so sexy if they had a fanny id 'fu**' em! Only bein doin the djin thing a monnth an a half but theyre so user friendly. Cya guys 2003-10-16
The best
By: dj t o m p e a r s o n

Technics sl-1200mk2's are the best for any serious dj and begginer alike. I would recommend these to any begginer, even if it means saving for a year longer. So called "beginner" decks are useless and will waste your time and money, take it form experience. No other deck offers you such excellent build quality plus excellent technical endurance. Who needs more torque than what technics offer? When the platter spins underneath your record thats being held still. What more do you want? Highly recommended 2003-09-27
Still a very good deck
By: StuZ

Well i have now owned three of these. The first pair were sold once i gave up djing, the third was purchased after i wanted to start playing some of the classics i had stored away. In the time i have used them i can't really fault them (maybe the center indent on the pitch and fixed wires). I am a straight beat mixer and these were spot on. Every club i played at had these (or 1210s) and even on a pair that looked very battered they still played perfectly! They set a standard which they have lead for many years. If you want to get a reliable deck without all the bells and whistles these still do the job and will for many years to come. But i feel other companies have raised the stakes and when you see the likes of numark decks (200's) that on paper is as good than the technics for almost half the money you have to stand up and listen. I haven't yet used the mentioned numark deck but who knows in the future i may trade my sl1200 in for a pair of them??? (they would have to be very good! For me to let the sl1200 go) For those that slate the 1200/1210s saying that they are no good and have had there day just don't understand how good they really are. 2003-05-20
dj's dream
By: dj_benny_dee

I must say i used to have a pair of stanton 880's but i got rid of em' wen i went on my mates 1200's they were the bollox, they handled so well, every mix was crisp and for those who wanna take djing up a level then these are the decks to but, i have and i bet veryone has em' vestax r good yea but stil u cant beat a good set of technics in ya bedroom. 2002-06-24
perfection
By: Tom Godsall

Its all very well sticking new features and the like on decs such as vestax which maybe good for a polished mix. However on the fly simplicity counts for a crisp mix and that is what you get from technics. Also its is better to chose 1200's over 1210's because they have heavier head shells so they shake less and have stronger motors which is good if you like to scratch. Technics havent changed them for 20 years need i say more. 2002-05-20
recommended
By: Dj Shocker

These decks are the best you can find. Everyone says vestax are better, yes they are fun with the reverse and all that, but if they are the best then why aren't they used in every venue in the country, - like technics 1200/10 2002-05-13
The daddy.
By: djnoz

This is the daddy. There are many decks that are better than technics, but if you're playing out, it's nice to play on something that is familiar. Get the industry standard. 2002-05-04
these decks kick A$$
By: techieMAN

This deck is 1 of the best decks out there, any1 who iz any1 knowz this deck rulez. Its very very solid and will last u about 10 years ( so they say :d ) i am not gonna say vestax r bad coz they r not.. How ever this deck has all the features a dj ever needs on them... And they r not made out of plastic.. If u go with them u will love em :d 2002-04-02
Who needs the 1210 when we can have Vestax...
By: Ricky Kennedy

I think that 1210's are out dated. Vestax have much better performance and you can pick up a set of decks with the same performance if not better for a fraction of the cost. 2002-02-04
What do you think I'm going to say?
By: sean carlin

You know im going to say these things rule!! But yet again i've never tried the vestax decks so they could be better... 2002-01-19
nothing will provide high level performance as long as technics NOTHING
By: BruceBr@¬in

Basically if u want top performance that lasts you go with technics. Vestax may have higher tourqe and other needless cool extras but it doesnt really make that much difference. Its all down 2 ur creative energy and nothing will outlast technics. 2002-01-12
The 1200s
By: Brandon Tauszik

Well. The legendary technics 1200s.
Known for it's quality and features. But why all the fuss when you could buy from say gemini? Numark? Denon? Or of course vestax? The thing is most of these offer more features for sometimes a fraction of the price of the 1200s. Make your own choice when it comes to decks. I chose vestax. 2002-01-12
Good but THAT Good?
By: Chris Quinn

Technics 1200 mkii. A classic deck overall and undoubtedly the most popular professional turntable. They are very hard wearing and durable. Although i myself have changed to vestax due to their better control and superb pitch control. Take your choice. But spend your money wisely.. 2002-01-12
ID go for Vestax any day over Technics
By: doskmi

This WAS a outstanding professional turntable like i said was. The only thing i like about this turntable is its durability I personally think that if ure going to spend some BUCKS then definitely go for the MASTER of all decks VESTAX. 2002-01-12
The turntable of the worlds greatest DJs
By: Matt Wonnacott

Well. What else can be said about the technics 1210s. Except outstanding......the legendary 1210 still leads the market with its superb record holding ability which makes it the number one for scratching. Along with quartz locked continuous pitch adjustment up to +/-8. And precision molded aluminum diecast cabinet this turntable is the turntable of the dj industry.....need i say more. I dont think so........
