OUTSTANDING!
By: Slinki
I really dunno what you guys with negative comments are doing with these headphones. Perhaps you need headphones made of solid titanium, coated in steel so you dont break them.
I have one word, OUTSTANDING!

Good but not great
By: Alex
I have a pair of these that made it just over a year before the already mentioned headband becoming detached from the earpiece. Not really long enough in my opinion when you are paying more than £100 for a set of headphones!
They can still be held together with strategically placed cable ties, but the whole flashy image suffers a little.
These headphones are still my favourite to mix with, and I would encourage anyone to go for them, but if you do you have to accept that if you use them a fair amount they will have a pretty short lifespan.

The Bad outweighs the good
By: Danny
I bought a pair of these pionner headphones about 4 months ago and was extremely pleased with them untill last night. I had previosly read the reviews on the site about this product and had noticed many complaints about the build qaulity and was slightyl worried. But the design and sound quality was what sold the product to me, anyway here is the good and the bad.
The Good:
- Excellent sound quality @ high volume (ideal for noisy clubs)
-Keeps the outside noise out and the sound from the equipment in.
-Folds up nicely to fit in your bag
-Looks great ( a must for any fashion aware dj)
-Shiny (we all like shiny things)
The Bad
-The build quailty is very poor. Last night after months of being carefull handling these headphones they slipped of my head whilst i was playing) Snap! this was the sound of the headphone joint between the speaker and the head band as it hit the floor.
So you could say i shouldn't of dropped them and it's my fault, but trust me you are at some point going to drop your headphones regardless how well you treat them (its inevitable).
So this is the clincher great phones but poorly designed in terms of strength. This poor design outweighs all the good.
I would definetly not recommend you buy this product if like me you actually want to use them in a club or on the road. Where they will get nocked and banged regardless of how well you try to look after them.
A product I would highly recommend is the top end Sennheiser HD25'S. These phones have great sound are extremely lightweight and are as tough as nails (serioulsy there indestructable compared to these pioneers) If you drop these phones they will just bounce right back.
If Sennheiser's aint sexy enough for you. Then maybe look into getting the Technics RPDH1200's

best headphones on the market in my opinion,
By: Waaren
I have had these headphones since they came out and i have had no problems whatsoever, i know people who have, however provided you treat them with care you will not have any problems.

wicked stuff
By: Alex
I have gigged with these cans now for six months and they are still going strong. They are as loud and clear as anyone should need them if your not a fool with your monitors, and they stick to your head like glue.
One star knocked off as the cord is not detatchable and therefore not easily replacable (why???).
Any apart from that these headphones will take normal usage fine, even better than many on the market in the price range.

Not bad, but priced wrongly..
By: DJ Octo
I recently left my pair of HD25s in a taxi (yes, VERY gutted) so i had to use the club's in-house headphones, which were are/were the Pioneer HDJ1000..
To start with i quite liked them, they seemed pretty loud and although a touch clunky, ok in the comfort department.. a couple of weeks later, and after everyone and their dog's used them - they STANK! - presumalbly from the sweat absorbed into the headband/earcups. The smell was something that i'm sure could've been washed away, but last night Kenny Dope was spinning in the other room and the head DJ came through and asked if i could switch the headphones i was using for his because he'd snapped on of the ear pieces off!!!
I've only just now realised how much these cost, and i'm amazed.
IMHO at this price the HD25s are a much better option, they sound better and are built better.

I'f you prefer less bass when mixing these babys are pefect. If not steer clear
By: Serious DJ
I brought these headphones because of the stick they can take at high volumes, I found that it was clear but only on high frequencies ie top end, but all depends what music you you mix really. But i found that it had not enough bass (I like a bass heavy headphone)It did not shut out the music well in a very loud venue. The are very uncomfortable when worn for long periods my set average is 3/4 hours. Also be careful when cranking it up it will give you ear fategue (be careful). i may be going over the top but at this price they should be perfect for me and they are not. I'm still using my SONY MDRV700.

Great quality of sound and nice design. Bad build. If you have lots of money get these.
By: Tranc3r
The sound quality from these headphones are top-notch. If the headband didnt come apart and if it had a stronger build then this would be the best dj headphones. I've been using them for 4 months @ Home. I used them very carefully, and i didnt drop them or anything. The headband came apart. When i first bought it i thought the reviews were just overexagerating with the headband, but now I see why. I personally wouldn't get it again, too much of a cost and breaks within months.

All headphones lack a small amount of durability, so they break and you buy a new pair. : )
By: Super DJ
The sound quality and power handling is good. However, the indicated frequency response seems off perceptibly in the highs. But maybe Im going deaf. I bought mine over a year ago, recently one of the speakers detached/broke away from the swivel resulting in the wire getting split. I rewired them with telephone wire. :) With this balance of pros and cons they hold good position in rank among DJ headphones. All headphones are capable of breaking. It all depends on how they are treated.
The industry standard headphones are the following.
Pioneer HDJ-1000
Sony MDR-V700
Technics RP-DH1200
The following are my dream headphones: Made out of durable but light material (titanium?) 3500mW input power.
approx. 5hz-30Khz range.
dolby surround. (just kidding)
And a pretty posh design.
Oh man, I would be the best designer.

Excellent
By: Trev
I have had these headphones for a very long time now and i like them a lot. I hear stories of the headband seperating, the cans breaking etc etc. Are you playing football with them?? Im a mobile dj and my headphones would get the odd knock now and again, ive dropped them giggin etc, but they are still in one peice! For those people complainin about the build quality, go and weld two buckets to your ears...

disappointing build quality at this price
By: marcus
Sold my hd25sp's to buy some of these. They didn't sound as good, and the padding on the headband started to show damage after using them twice (carefully)
definitely not recomennded for professional dj situations. The rest of the build quality was pretty damn average as well. Sold them straight away and ordered some hd25's

Dont wast your money
By: Ric Groves
Despite 3 fellow dj's breaking untold pairs of these i bought them due to the outstanding sound quality at high volumes. Wish i had not wasted my money, after only 4 months use they headband has separated from the padding, one wire has frayed, & the plastic swivel casing is cracked. These are now unusable! Not what i expect from headphones of this price. Not happy! These seemed to have the sound quality of the senheieser hd25 & the sturdiness of the sony's both of which i have owned, sound quality yes, ability to be used regularly on a professional basis, most definately no. I expect to go through headphones at some rate as they do get a little abuse when going in & out of car / clubs etc. Not this quick though. Dont waste your money! Sony = longevity at over 2 years, but less clarity at high volumes. Sennheiser HD25 = awesome sound, bit fragile though. However parts are replaceable, at a price!Personally its another pair of senheiser's. Please can a manufacturer make a set of can's that actually last rather than made from play dough!

good sound, but should handle carefully
By: methodik
Sound isolation and bass is incredible and feel is pretty comfortable. Missing a bit of more high frequencies.but the build quality is a bit overhyped, though!gives the best sound from pioneer mixers.

Great sound, poor build quality
By: Tyz
When I first got these headphones, i was nothing but impressed. They sound and look amazing. But after 7 weeks, the headband started to seperate from the actual bit they join onto the headphones. They are held together by tape and have totaly broken! I was not expecting this from Pioneer. Get the HD25's rather than these! I wont be buying any again!

buy em people
By: JON PARS
Outstanding headphones!!! they are great - buy em people.

Best I've seen yet! Or is that heard yet?
By: Alistair
I just bought a pair of these and I tottaly agree with the above statement. Although the build quality of these headphones is questionable in my opinion. I suppose only the test of time will show whether these are the true king of DJ headphones.

amazing
By: Rob
unbelieveable pair of headphones! i cranked up the volume on my vestax to the max and these phones took it! clear as day no matter what volume. build quality seems fine to me, and they are exceptionally comfortable. if you haven't got these, you need them, well worth the price and from first impressions they look like they will stand the test of time!

Buy these!
By: Simon Green
These phones completely deserve a 5 star rating. The clarity of sound is awsome. Each sound is crystal clear - from the deepest base through to the highest treble. I find them much more comfortable than the sennheiser hd25s. The one sided cable - only going into the left phone is great - no getting the wire twisted or nearly strangling yourself! The phones fold up to fit into a cool carry bag too! Basically the pioneer hdj 1000 are the bomb!
