to buy or not to buy?

Crossfaders and upfaders - smooth as.
sampler - good value for money. Start your set off with a looped accapella then kick in a beat from one of the channels. Sounds beasting!
jog wheel and effects - only disappointing one here is the scratch effect. Good for spinbacks but not really much else in my eyes.
eq/gain - almost perfect.
all in all for the price you won't find any other mixer like it out there. One bad point is that after a while the effects fader will start to go, i.e when it's closed you can still hear the effect selected (such as echo) in the background. Again though this could be cos i use the thing too damn much!!
there are a lot of worse things you could spend 350 notes on. Go get yourself one now!

good solid mixer

ive had this mixer for a year now and compared to the price of some 5 channel mixers this is a good quality - low cost option. the fx are quite good e.g. filter, distort but some are not e.g. chop,echo, the sampler is the only thing that lets the mixer down i reckon. definately worth it if youve got a low budget but need more channels.

What's wrong with it for this price?

What's dodgy about the software? Did it crash a lot? What's wrong with the build? You're also comparing it to those Pioneer mixers which cost twice as much, and I've heard their effects...they're not that great. Please be more detailed.

Very disappointing mixer

Badly built, dodgy software and faders are flimsy. Its obvious that numark have skimped on the quality of the mixer to provide some silly effects and a terrible sampler!
If you really must buy this mixer, please try the similarly priced Pioneer DJM-500 or DJM-600 first - and compare the build quality! You will know what i mean!!!

Second review and still 5star material

Well my second review on this mixer... now that ive had it a while its really comming to shine... when i bought this it seamed quite easy to master. HELL i was so wrong!!! you can really create some deep mixes with this thing... introducing the sampler into your mix using the autoloop feature you can cut-in a loop and rewind the tune and let it drop again. this really is a crowd pleaser and they always ask where can i get that remix? NO CHANCE! its all done live!
Its so so usefull and really lets your creativity come out to play. it lets you get away from boring beatmatch mixing and gives you something to play with.
Ive used a number of mixers in my past some much better quality than this... but for this price you wont get a 5ch mixer with such unique playability. Really lovely layout. lots of room for big hands and faders are smooth as Angelina Jolie's thighs. So let me put it to you like this. How cheap looking and crappy is TETRIS? how long would you sit and play it? ALL F'in DAY!! This thing is really addictive and will really keep your creativity on edge. if your thinking of buying the rival PIONEER i really do suggest you give this a go first. its a class pice of kit from a class manufacturer. 5stars for numark and 5 stars for DJstore selling it to me :oD

This new mixer from numark is supreme! ill start with the build quality because its absolutely tank! no way this baby is gona get bruised. solid construction throughout, even the X-fader feel very sturdy but no way does it feel tight.
Up faders, for my liking where a bit "loose" and easy to knock down when pressing the cue buttons or switching the channel x-fader assignments.
Another feature i would have liked is the lip on the edges to rack mount the unit.
Note this is a tabletop mixer so dont expect to be able to drop this into a box!
EQ's are great "TOTALLY" killing the frequency band.
PFL's are very responsive and are very accurate for monitoring and levelling your gains.
One thing that i very much like about this mixer was not only does it allow you to change the curve of the X-fader but its on a rotary pot meaning you can have it half way! perfect for me as the way i scratch i move the x-fader allot. Many mixers on a sharp bend the sound cuts in to fast for me, so this is perfect as i can adjust the curve to my liking. On the other end the slope its smooth as and has a nice gradual transformation for a nice slow mix.
Another great feature is the split-cue. some mixers come with strange split cues but it looks like numark have spent some cash right here. The usual cue mix will let you listen to your cue and master in stereo, depressing the split will split left and right channels on the headphones and assign cue and master indivualy respectively
The tone control is another small but usefull feature. it adjusts the tone for the CUE so you can pick out a beat on a not so punchy tune with a 10k system blaring away.
Onto one of the best parts the effects... literaly id have to write another review for this. ill just say 2 or 3 things. Beatkeeper from numark is very very fast at tracking a bmp and dam accurate by my standards. the effects tie in with beatkeeper very well, giving you freedom and peace of mind you can flip that fader to wet and bring in an effect knowing its not going to flop your mix. The LCD is big and clear enough and displays just what you need... no nonsense from numark with the effect wheel, very nice feel and flows easily, small increments are easy to find. If you spin the wheel you can travel the whole length of the effect range in one go so its very diverse and deliveres perfectly.
The LEDs under the display are mostly just a funky effect when adjusting your effects but also display the beatkeepers workings, LEDS are split into 3 sections 4 red LEDs far left and right, these display the beats in a liniar fassion lighting up the next LED on every beat then returning tothe first.
The 4 middle green LEDs display the interlock, these only light up when the beats are syncronised.
It also displays a representation of where in the range of the effect your at. I like the fact you can apply the effect to any channel or the master, and also CUE your effects! PERFECT!!!
As for now i haven't been able to work out the sampler fully yet as i only had this machine for 4hrs and it blew! but i had a quick go with the smart loop, i didnt even know what i was doing and it mapped the beats and created a perfect loop! BRILLIANT!
well im getting a new one from numark soon and i cant wait to carry on learning, this is a easy mixer to learn but i can imagine allot of hidden secrets and taking a long time to master>
ive used a few mixers in my time, vestax, citronic, kam, i must say this mixer "tight as" if you can afford it get it you wont be disappointed, i think alot of people with try to compare this with the pioneer's... its not about comparing people... its about what you like and this is one sexy as FCUK mixer!!! 5* for NUMARK well done!
