Great bit of kit, couple of pitfalls tho.
By: Garry Selman
Having only used a basic twin CD player before I was a little dissapointed this very complicated model only comes with a quickstart user guide but after downloading the full manual for the CDN90 (almost the same but no mp3 playing) I found out how to use most of the programming features and it is a great bit of kit. The beatkeeper works best if u manually tap the master beat and the effects are stunning. A bit pricey, but djstore just dropped the price on a price match I sent them so I don't think u can get it cheaper anywhere else. If u can afford it, it shud give u years of high tech dj fun. BTW it will not play overburnt CD-R disks ie: when u fit 81 minutes of music on a 80 min disk, so I've had to reburn some of my cds.

A great bit of kit for the money.

Purchaced Sept 2006.
Decided to go for the Numark for the same reason as most DJs (Its convenient to use MP3 to reduce the amount of media you have to cart about)Chosen from a short list of three units (The others being the new Tascam and the Dennon DNS 9000)Having used a Tascam CD302 for several years decided that the similarly uncluttered layout of the CDN95 was the one to go for (the new Tascam does not display track information so as this is a must with 150 plus tracks on one disc it was not considered any further)The Denon seemed a fine machine but has a very cluttered control layout and was far more expensive. I love the Numark panel layout all the buttons are illuminated and the display is very clear.I have found that the search facility does not work very well with MP3s and can make searching through a track a very long winded task.I have had the machine lock up a couple of times (there is nothing worse during a gig)but this has only happened twice in six weeks of fairly intense use.The effects section is easy to use and quite efective. The chop and pan effects are realy brutal but work well with the BPM matching. The other effects are less brutal but it would definately benifit from some form of depth or clean/effect balance control. A solidly built machine with a nice slot loading system Its one of those bits of kit that grows on you the more you play with it even after 6 weeks of use. Works better with CDs but works well enough with MP3s to make me look forward to using it. The manufactured supplied instructions are poor but the unit is so simple to use that a few hours experimentation is all thats needed.

A very good piece of kit

Bought one of these from DJStore a couple of months ago. Arrived next day as always with them. I've got to say I am delighted with this piece of kit.
I have a big big collection of MP3s and I find that with a small cd case, this unit, a mixer and a couple of Mackies I can do a great mobile night and save carrying all that heavy vinyl/CDs. I've tried computer DJing and had trouble with program stability and it's very expensive too. This machine works well every time and gives me good effects and easy mixing - Sound quality is great too.

I bought it and so should you!!

This is an outstanding piece of equipment. It is fantastic to have all those mp3s on cd. For gigs I can take around 35 discs which gives me almost 6000 tracks from my own collection of music. Plus which, my audience don't worry that I'm using MP3s which might have been ripped from the net because they don't even know. Searching is easy and the effects, loops etc are fantastic quality for creative mixing. Buy it - you won't be disappointed.
