The Pioneer CDJ800MK2 retained the same key design themes of its big brother, the CDJ1000MK2, and has a strong installed base, especially in the club and bar sector and among bedroom DJs and enthusiasts. Its revisions have also been influenced by consultation with the DJ community and many of the new features on the CDJ1000MK3 are carried through into the CDJ800MK2.

The CDJ800MK2 has a stylish new silver metallic finish and metallic JOG buttons and also includes full MP3 compatibility; tracks can be operated in the same way as CDs as the deck is equipped with ¡®Folder Search¡¯, and in ¡®Text Mode¡¯ the artist name, track title and file name are shown on the display.

The JOG wheel retains the non-slip metallic finish of the CDJ1000MK3 and the subtle silver trim on the wheel, as well as the same features on the On JOG Display (brighter, larger cue point and 45¢ª marks).

The feel of the JOG wheel is tweaked to mirror that of the CDJ1000MK2. The track data display is of a higher resolution (multicolour and fluorescent) and the address data has been extended to include the complete track. Resume play is also included alongside the backlighting of the re-loop button. In addition, it¡¯s now possible to make short beat loops on the CDJ800MK2 due to the inclusion of an AUTO BEAT LOOP command: by pushing the loop-in button, DJs can create a one-per-eight BEAT LOOP.

Cue point data (now 500 point memory) can be copied from one CDJ800MK2 to another using the new data connection on the back of the unit.

With digital connectivity, the CDJ-800MK2 can be at the centre of a full digital environment, providing a deck that offers the core professional features that have made Pioneer the mark by which other tabletop CD systems are measured.

Not bad decks, but pricy considering their limitations
By: Rob

Well, people are probably going to slate me for putting this review on here (one thing I've come to realise over the years is that DJs are very passionate about their equipment), but I'm just stating my findings from a lot of experience working in bars and clubs where I've come across these decks.

I don't own a pair of these myself, nor do I own a pair of 1000s (I'm simply not rich enough for those!), but I've played on a good few 800s, as bars and smaller rooms in clubs always seem to have them installed. They're reasonable decks, don't get me wrong, but for less money you can get a set of decks with the same build quality and far more features (check out the Citronic CDS6 for example- fantastic deck and will take a pounding too).

The older mark I versions of these are complete rubbish as far as I'm concerned- VERY fussy over CDRs, take ages to load and just generally feel very flimsy. The mark IIs however are a marked improvement, everything has been tightened up and they don't seem to have the same issues with some CDRs that I've encountered on older decks.

All in all these are not bad, but in all honesty, why fork out all that dosh when you can get something with far more features and comparable build quality for £200 less?? 2006-12-28
Definitaly worth the money
By: DJ Memnoch

I was stuck between buying this or going for the cheaper CDJ200, I decided upon this and I am 100% sure I made the right choice.

It is a pricey CD Deck I have to admit, but if you have the money it is worth every penny. why? because of the quality of everything. The buttons all have a metallic finish which stops it feeling and looking cheap, the fake turntable works excellently; it even has a small digital display in the centre which allows you to search a song frame-by-frame superbly. It has "Vinyl" mode which basically allows you to control the CD almost as though it were a record, but it also has the CD mode which makes it easy to search through tracks. It has some cool features such as looping, which you can either do manually or get it to select sections for you. It can play MP3 also which is great for obvious reasons.

To put it simply, everything works to a high standard, it looks nice, feels nice, and plays nice.

If you want the best, then this is a good choice. The CDJ 1000 MAY look tempting, but think of the price difference and what extra features it has. It is unlikely that it is worth that extra cash when this one has all that you really need. (though if £1500 for a pair is not your idea of pricey then go for it) 2006-11-07
