Delivering breathtaking scope for creativity, consummate clarity and a world first in terms of its Effect Frequency Filter, the ingenious new Pioneer DJM700 is dramatically different. A matchless 4-channel mixer that allows DJs to present the freshest, most explosive live performances, the DJM700 is pure – 96kHz/24-bit – digital dynamite.

The MIDI assignable mixer elevates the DJM series by fusing digital DNA from installation-grade forerunners such as the DJM1000 and DJM800 mixers with innovative new digital effects that are set to exceed expectations of ‘mid-level’ mixers. With an industry-standard size and layout and a dual shield structure that eliminates digital noise, the new DJM700 is both robust and reliable. Designed to impress in bar, club and studio spaces alike the DJM700 is set to have a wide appeal.

Boasting 32-bit DSP [Digital Signal Processing], a digital effects filter, 13 beat effects and enhanced roll sampler in what is an extremely familiar format for DJs, this new kit on the block is definitely in a class of its own!’ says Jason Pook, Product Development Manager, Pioneer Europe.

Main Features

96kHz/24-bit digital sampling system with 32-bit DSP (Digital Signal Processing) delivers incredible, head-turning sound. The mixer’s top-of-the-range 96kHz/ 24-bit digital sound is inherited from Pioneer’s world-class professional series, notably the DJM1000 and DJM800 mixers. This clean, supreme sound quality is maintained throughout the mix via an outstanding analogue to digital converter, with mixing carried out by 32-bit DSP.

The world first Effect Frequency Filter opens new doors for expression. The remarkable Effect Frequency Filter mode opens up killer high and low pass frequency filter control for affecting any chosen effect, so you can limit which frequency bands are subject to manipulation. This means you can add an effect to either a) the effect only, b) the music (sample) only, or c) both simultaneously.

Manual Filter facilitates a more intuitive performance. The DJM700 features a high-grade rotary LP & HP Manual Filter. This allows both filtering of the track and, when used in conjunction with the effects, filtering of the effects themselves. The Manual Filter therefore presents countless possibilities to make a performance unique and to make a track your own.

Innovative Beat Effects and pitch adjustable Roll Sampler provide mind-blowing opportunities for live remixing. A highly evolved Roll Sampler makes tempo-specific manipulation of audio samples easily accessible through real-time sampling using 4-Roll Effects: ROLL, REVERSE ROLL, PITCH UP ROLL and PITCH DOWN ROLL. There are also nine other effects: DELAY, ECHO, TRANSFORM, FILTER, FLANGER, PHASER, REVERB, ROBOT and CRUSH. Such an array of dancefloor-destroying effects can be used in infinite ways to manipulate sound in exciting new directions, with each effect permitting time parameter control of the music’s movements.

The crush effect that first appeared on the DJM800 is included here but now with an added LFO that sweeps the bitcrusher through its full spectrum, always remaining locked to the beat.

Fully Assignable MIDI Control. With 49 MIDI assignable knobs, faders & switches, the DJM700 can be used to control external DJ software, soft synths and au/vst plugins running on a Mac or PC. Together with the new on/off MIDI send control, MIDI data can be turned on & off giving amazing control for the most demanding digital DJ.

Pioneer. Need I say more?
By: Director Dash

Well I bought this mixer after the tragic loss of my Denon DN-X1500. With not many user-written reviews written across the web, considering this is a fairly new model, I was slightly weary about buying this mixer. However, I'm more than happy with my decision. The DJM700 offers outstanding sound quality, some tripping effects and an overall easy interface to mix with, but with a few features missing that were available on the DN-X1500. Firstly, the effects module. The DJM700 has 9 beat effects; the DN-X1500 only having 8. One particular effect I miss from the 1500 is the "filter 2" effect, that would pan up and down the entire frequency spectrum of the audio. However the DJM700 has a frequency knob, that not only allows you to create the similar effect manually, but can be applied to any of the mixer's effects; meaning the desired effect will only be applied to whatever frequency range is set using the frequency control - great for fading in effects in an entirely new way, instead of relying on the dry/wet control. In addition to the effects, the DJM700 also offers a beat sampler, that Pioneer have engaged 4 different uses for, known as the "roll" functions. The 4 functions made available are... Roll = a linear seamless sample. Reverse Roll = A recorded sample played seamlessly in reverse. Up Roll = Takes a sample that gradually lifts the pitch and tempo throughout the sample. Down Roll = Gradually lowers the pitch and tempo throughout the sample. All of which are recorded in a perfect beat-set sample, and can be altered using the frequency and dry/wet controls. Once recorded, the samples can be nudged to a different channel - which is great for freeing up the original channel for another track! Being a mobile and radio DJ, one of the minor functions which comes in useful for my sets is the automatic talk-over, which basically lowers the volume over all channels when any audio is detected across the microphone channel. A few gripes with the DJM700, is the fact that there is only "fader start" available on the first 2 channels, which is unfortunate for me, as I would use the 1st and 4th channel for my CDJs when using the DN-X1500. Another minor issue is the 3 preset curves for the crossfader; unlike the DN-X1500 which provided a rotary knob to adjust the curves exactly to suffice. However, this is only considering I have used the DN-X1500 for a few years; and wouldn't be an issue for most DJs. My final worry with the DJM700, being fairly new, is that I was concerned I would not find a suitable case for the mixer, however, after a bit of research, I found the mixer fits in the Road Ready RR12MIX case perfectly! Overall, if it's a top notch house mixer that can turn your beats inside out in ways you didn't know were possible, without the expense of the DJM800 or 1000 (and the unfortunately poor build of the DN-X1500!) then this is the mixer for you.
