Conectiv, developed by M-Audio’s SynchroScience division, is the world’s first bus-powered 4 x 4 USB audio interface designed for DJs who perform and produce tracks with a laptop. Together, Conectiv and the included Torq software form the ultimate DJ tool—high-fidelity audio, all the right kinds of I/O (including dual phono preamps), and the ability to mix, beat-match and cue digital files with ease. Use them as a completely digital solution and leave the heavy stacks of vinyl or bulky wallets of CDs at home—or process your vinyl and CDs on the fly. You can even create a hybrid digital/vinyl DJ rig by using Conectiv and Torq with specially encoded control vinyl discs or CDs (optional). Torq supports popular formats such as MP3, WAV, WMA and AAC files and is configured to automatically work with Conectiv—no messy set-ups. And unlike most digital DJ systems, Conectiv works with other third-party software as well.

Torq is good value for money and a good alternative to Serato
By: Luke Oliver

I have owned Torq for over six months now and used it regularly at gigs and it has been very stable running on my Macbook. The best feature about Torq for me is the way it displays the waveform. It makes knowing when breakdowns and drops come in very easy and in my opinion is superior to Serato in this respect. However Seratos file browser and system of crates is nicer than Torqs file browser. Also Torq will read the bpm of the song for you, whereas in Serato you need to input it manually. This is harder if you don't know what it is. The looping on Torq is also much easier to use straight out of the box. One negative point with Torq is that the Conectiv box to look and feel a bit plasticy compared to the more rugged looks of the Serato box. I feel that Torq is a very good alternative to Serato especially for the price. I have heard people say that Serato is more stable but in all honestly i have used both systems and had both crash on me.
